RAK from Emjay2307 (All the way from Great Britain)

Emjay is so sweet. She sent some goodies all the way from Great Britain for me and my little girl. Sorry it's in three pieces, I don't know how to put them together. Mariah, my little girl loved doing her video and now she thinks she should be in every video I make.

Please continue to pray for us as we are still dealing with the flood and the damage. The big problem right now is that our suburban was damaged in the flood and it is the only way I have to transport my wheelchair. So your prayers would be greatly appreciated.

So Happy To Be Back Home

I am so thankful that we are back in our house. For those of you who do not know, I live in Live Oak Florida and we got so much rain that many, many homes in our area flooded, including ours, and sink holes opened up all over town. There are two on our church property (which is where we were staying when we had to leave our home). Right now there is one in the center of town and after they xrayed the ground they estimated it to be at least 150 feet deep. My heart goes out to the people who are dealing with this flood and are still not back in their homes. We are still cleaning things up and we lost one of our vehicles when my daughter had to drive through a flooded road. So I wanted to ask you all to please pray that we get our car fixed or if God wants we find another one that we can buy. Our suburban is the only way we have to get my electric wheelchair out of the house and get me to my doctors appointments and back and forth to church. So if you all could join me in prayer over this, I would greatly appreciate it.

Please Pray for Us

Hi everyone. We live in Live Oak Florida and if you've been following the weather you know that we have had more than our fair share of rain. We had been fighting the water for almost a week, doing everything we could to keep the rain from coming in our house. I sewed sand bags until my poor sewing machine was exhausted and so was I. We loaded and filled sand bags, had trenches dug and yet the water kept coming. Two days ago we had to admit that we couldn't fight it any longer and it wasn't safe for us to be in the house anymore. My husband carried our littlest to the suburban, my oldest daughter helped my son out then my husband came back to help me. We have been staying at our church. Well, we woke up this morning to find a huge sink hole about 30 feet in front of the church doors. The police came to let us know that if it moved closer to the church that we would have to leave. Right now, it has stayed where it was and I am so thankful for that. I got on here today to ask you all to please pray that we are able to get back into our house soon and  that the damage is minimul. Your prayers will be greatly appreciated.

RAK from Tricia (alittleshabbychic on YouTube)

Tricia lives in the United Kingdom and they don't have large craft stores like we have here. Well, she had mentioned that she loved the things that she saw in the Michael's Haul videos she had seen. So the last time I went to Michael's I picked her up a few things. She was so sweet and in return she sent me some awesome goodies all the way from the UK. I loved everything she sent and, of course, all the amazing things she handmade for me. I love handmade gifts and I wanted to share it all with you.

Handmade Paper Bags

I have seen so many people use paper bags to package gifts in their RAK's or swaps and I have seen different places that you could buy them from. So I thought that I would give it a try.
I had found some scotch shipping paper at Wal-greens and it was a little thicker than I had wanted but I'm sure you can find rolls of craft paper where you pick up regular wrapping paper or back in the craft department. I think the thinner paper would probably work better.
I used the butterfly fairies stamp set from Stampers Best, that I received in a RAK from Kerry Duff.
I purchased my Tim Holtz distress inks in Vintage Photo and Tea Dye from Joann's.
So here we go. . .
If you can see something you think I can do to improve on this, please feel free to let me know.

"I Feel The Love Card" for Brandon

Hey everyone, I sure hope that you all have had a great day today. Madison at Funky Cards has an amazing program called I Feel The Love. I've been ill with different things since the beginning of this year and have not had a chance to do cards for her program in what feels like forever. But I use to do it on a regular basis and even had the kids in my Sunday School class make a card each month for the recipient of this program. It's an incredible program and if you haven't already checked it out, I encourage you to do so. The story about this month's recipient, Brandon, is heartbreaking. Any time a child is hurt, my heart aches not only for them but for their parents. The other day I was looking at Madison's blog and it reminded me, "That no matter how sick I may be, I still have so much to be thankful for." So I made this card for Brandon. It's far from anything fancy but one that I hope will bring a grin to his little heart.

The stamps are Stampendous stamps called Changito Dos and I found them at Tuesday Morning. I used my Crayola colored pencils to color the images. The scalloped oval is from Stamp-in Up and the card stock is from Wal-Mart.

Becca's Mini Album

This has been one crazy day. It started with a transformer blowing on the poll beside our house at 1 a.m. this morning. Which nearly scared me to death. At about 10 o'clock a tree fell and landed on our patio. Jesse was on the patio at the time and it left a huge dent in the roof directly above where he was standing. I think my heart stopped on that one. I was watching him on the porch, I hear this loud sound and in the blink of an eye the tree was down and Jesse was gone. Thank God, he ran to the corner of the patio when it hit and I screamed for my husband to come help me. As I got to the door he came out from under the table he ran too. I think I held him so tight that I nearly squeezed the stuffing out of him when I got a hold of him. Then our washing machine decided to do something crazy and leaked water and kept running for some strange reason until it ran across the kitchen, through the family room, into the game room and under Jesse's door (completely covering his bedroom floor). I know this because I slipped and fell in it. This is one Memorial Day that I am ready to be over. Sorry about telling you all the bad things that happened today.

Let me show the mini album I made for a very sweet young lady, from my children's church, who came to see me when I was in the hospital.

Disney Autograph Book and a few more tags

I got up Friday morning and decided that I was going to make each of the kids in Jesse's class an autograph book for all the characters that they might meet on their trip. Plus a few kids didn't make it on my original list, so I made tags for them too. This ended up being an all day job and didn't allow for time to take pictures before I sent them off. Sorry about that.

A Quick Haul from Michaels, Ebay and Tuesday Morning

I had to go to pick up my glasses in Valdosta and while I had to wait on the lady to show up for work, my daughter and I made a trip to a couple stores. Michael's had a good sale on their Recollections bling and I was so excited. I don't have a lot of bling because of the cost. But for 40% off, it made it a very reasonable deal.

RAK from Annie

When I made my last post, the mail hadn't ran yet. Shortly after I let you all know about my "wonderful" hospital visit there was a knock at the door and it was the mail-lady. I had a package I had to sign for. I had no idea what it could be, I hadn't ordered anything. Well, it turned out to be an amazing surprise from Annie. I made a video of me opening the package and I want to share it with all of you.

Missing my blog and all of you.

I wish I had a project to post for you all but I just got out of the hospital and have been in there since my last post. I got home last night and am so thankful to be back in my own house. I can honestly say this was, by far, the worst hospital experience I've ever had. I am still waiting for the results of some test but could not spend one more day in that hospital. They were giving me some kind of steroid to make sure that I didn't get any blood clots while I was in there. So not only do I look like a pin cushion right now but I do not handle steroids very well.

My roommate was 98 years old and was a very sweet lady. But she was very scared and didn't want to be alone. So she decided that I should sit up with her at night. Well, after about the 4th night with no sleep because I was sitting in a chair between our beds and the steroids they were giving me (which make me very grumpy) I decided that I had to get some sleep. Well, she wasn't happy about that. She'd ring for the nurse and then when they'd come, she'd tell them that it was me. (You can laugh, it was funny. But at the time I was trying to figure out how I could bust myself out.) This is definitely something I'll never forget. She told me I must have been a big baby because I'm sure fat now. Yes, this is another example of some of the fun conversations we had while I was in there. Then the 15 guest she had in her room for 8 hours on Saturday was another amazing experience. They were taking pictures of each other and laughing and having a good ole' time. I think they thought they were at a family reunion. I was just waiting for someone to whip out fried chicken and potato salad and it would have been complete.

If anyone else has had fun and exciting hospital stays, I'd love to hear your stories. Please tell me that I'm not the only grumpy patient out there. LOL

Chunky Charm Key Chains

I had a very nice lady on YouTube ask me if I could do a video on how I do my key chain charms. So I tried to do the video last night. It was a little difficult to work with such small pieces and still have it visible, but I did my best. I hope that you all like the video and try making one for yourself. They make great gifts. I made 2 of them for my son's teachers for teacher appreciation.

Basket Purses

Tricia from alittleshabbychic on youtube sent me the most adorable boxes all the way from the United Kingdom so that I could turn them into purses for my daughter and god-daughter. I was so excited. Mariah has hers and my god-daughter will be getting hers tomorrow. Mariah is definitely almost a teenager. As soon as I gave her her new purse, she carried it over to her daddy and asked for money to put in it. Thank goodness she still wants to buy barbie dolls and isn't asking to go to the mall. LOL

I used Folk Art (baby pink) paint and Plaid Royal Coat Decoupage Finish from Wal-Mart. Journey (K and Company) paper for the top. Beads from my stash, eye hooks and 18 gauge wire from my local hardware store for the handle.

Key Chain Charms

Today I decided to make my first key chains. I made my first charm the other day for a journal and enjoyed it so much that I decided to add some to key rings. I used different beads and charms from my stash. Then I used head pins, key rings and some chain from Wal-Mart. They are really easy to do and I love that I was able to personalize them with colors that my friends like and charms of things that they collect or are important to them in their everyday life.
This one is for my friend who is a Florida Gator fan (orange and blue are their colors) and he lives everyday for the Lord (so I added the cross).

This one is for my god-daughter to give to her mom, for Mother's Day. What girl doesn't like bling, shoes and need hope to get through each day. So I added the big bling at the bottom, the shoe charm and the ribbon that says "hope" on it.

They were a lot of fun to do and I plan on making more today. I've already started a green one with frog charms on it and my next one is going to be a pastel mix. Let me know what you think.

Jesse's Class Luggage Tags

Every time Jesse's class goes on a trip, I make tags for their bags. It just makes things a lot easier when they get back and they are all tired. You look at the tag and toss it to the very sleepy kid who is so tired they can't remember what bag they packed. LOL I used Stamp-in Up framelits for both the boys and girls tags. It was super easy and super quick. I hope you like them.
That's my very handsome son Jesse with his suitcase and sleeping bag.

Gifts For a Friend

I wanted to make a few things for a dear friend and I really hope that she like these. All the supplies I used are mentioned in my video or come from my stash.
Journal, Balsa Box, and Corsage

Michael's Balsa Box

Mothers Day Corsage

Charm
I did end up taking the tulle out for the bow across the top of the journal and used the same lace I used for the tie closure to give it a softer and more antique look. I really hope that my friend will like this and it will bring a smile to her face.

How My Tripod is Hooked Up for Videos

For those of you who do videos to go along with your blog, I wanted to share with you how my husband hooked up my tripod so that I could make my videos. Now the only problems that I have with this set up is the new tripod I have. The head of the tripod doesn't turn all the way so that I can have my camera set up in front of me so that you see things the same was I see them. That kinda bugs me and if it I don't adjust to this new angle, I may go and invest in another tripod. But will just take down the old one and re-attach the new one. I love having my tripod off of my desk so that I don't have to work around it.
Hope this helps you all find a way to hook up your camera so that it is out of your way while you are crafting and taping.

My First Handmade Journal

This is the first journal that I've ever made. I made some mistakes and am trying to learn from them. I'd like to make more of them to give to my nieces, so I will eventually get it right. I wish I knew where the vintage paper came from because I really love it. But I was happy to use it for this project. The binding paper is from Papertrey Ink and the tulle and ribbon were from my stash. The brad on the front cover is from Stamp-in Up and is called, antique brads. The clothes pin at the top is from Michael's but was given to me in a RAK from Ana. Thanks again Ana. I really love them.

Mothers Day Corsages

I wanted to get a head start on something for my mom and my sisters for mothers day. I wanted to make them a corsage but not the typical looking corsage. I wanted it to be something that they could wear anytime they felt like it would match their outfit. My mom doesn't like real flowers because she says it's a waste of money because she hates to have to throw them away when they die. So I'm really hoping that she will like these.

I made the clay rose in the center and the pearl trim is from my stash. The rose buds are from Wild Orchid Crafts and here is the link to where you can purchase those.
Then I purchased the bases for each of the corsages from Discount Charms. Which is Drew's store from Card of my Eye and here is the link to his blog.
He has a direct link on his blog to his etsy store. I was very happy with the prices he was charging and I was able to find some things that I couldn't find at any other stores there.
I hope you like the corsages and it reminds you to get started on your Mother's Day projects.

Hi everyone, I just felt like making something special last night. So I pulled out the flowers and trims that Ana gave me, my bling and my homemade roses and this is what I came up with. Jesse and his Stamp-in Up Bunny

I went to Jesse's class yesterday and made Easter bunnies with all of the kids and we had so much fun. They used my Stamp-in Up Big Shot, Framelits and Punches. Jesse traded his blue boy Easter bunny with his friend and brought home her girl pink Easter bunny. It was pretty easy to spot that it wasn't Jesse's. One - it had pink trim and two - he put his heart upside down. Lets just say that his bunny had a look all it's own.

Isn't he the cutest bunny maker you've ever seen?

The video has the link to Dawn's video and she'll show you how quick and easy these cute bunnies are to make.

Rose broach and ring

Hi everyone. I have some severe medical conditions and one of the nurses at the doctors office that I go to regularly is always so kind to me. I wanted to do something special for her. So when she called to confirm my appointment. I asked her what her favorite color was and I took it from there. I used one of my homemade clay roses, folk art ocean cruise acrylic paint, antique lace, a homemade stick pin and a feather from my stash. Let me know what you think.

Today is a special day.

Today is a special day. It has been exactly one year today that I started my blog. I was hoping to be at 200 subscriber by now and I'm really close. So I'll be posting later on this week with a special give-away for when I reach 200. I would like to thank each and everyone of you for your constant support and continued kindness to me through this past year. It has been a privilege getting to know so many kind and caring people.

Mariah and her Easter Headband

Mariah wanted a headband to match her new dress and shoes for Easter. So I started by dying the feathers and you can see how I did that in the previous post. She is so happy with how it turned out and that is all that matters to me. Her dress is bright pink with a little bit of black. I didn't have any black lace so I used a spool of black satin. I folded it in half and did a running stitch down the side. I gathered it and glued it to my felt base circle. I then dyed my flower to match and used a brad from Stamp-in Up for my center. I layered the felt base, then the black satin, the pink feathers and then the black boa feather and then my flower on top. I really like the look and how the marabou feathers are just so soft and fluffy. I hope you do to.

How I dyed my marabou feathers.

Hey All, I needed a different colored feather for my daughters Easter headband and this is how I managed to get as close to the pink color I wanted as possible. So it is possible to dye your feathers and it makes it a lot cheaper to buy white ones, instead of trying to get all the different colors they sell. Hope this helps you make something, that brings a smile to your face.

So Proud of You - For the "I Feel the Love Program"

Hey all, as many of you know I have not been feeling very well and have not made a card in over 2 weeks. Which is not like me at all. I haven't even been able to come up with a simple design. I think not feeling well and just being down physically has really taken it's tole on me. So today when I came home from my cardiologist, I decided I was going to make a card if I had to sit here all night long. I need to make some birthday cards, but didn't feel up to that. So I decided to do a card for Madison at http://www.funkycards.blogspot.com/ , for her I Feel the Love Program. The recipients of the cards this month are members of the Navy on the ship with Madison's brother. I know my card isn't the most patriotic but I thought maybe one of the women on board might enjoy it.

Desk Top Mini

Hey Everyone, it's me again. I wanted to show you the mini that I'm working on. I still have to make the journaling tags to go inside each pocket, but I wanted to share with you what I have done so far. The papers are all from Hobby Lobby, the Paper Studio - Mirabelle Collection along with the ribbon and brads. It is such pretty paper. I used an 8 X 10 acrylic frame and a small binder clip that was attached to a index card holder, both from Wal-Mart. I used .25 inch scor-tape to hold the pages from the mat stack together, only on 3 sides. I plan on making tags to slip inside that can be used as a journaling mat for pictures on both sides of the page.

I feel like it is needing something on the right side, but I just don't know what. Let me know what you think and if you think of something that might be the perfect embellishment, let me know.

Bling Rings

I spent most of the day in my wheelchair not feeling like doing much. But a couple hours ago I got a burst of energy and made a few pearl bling rings for some friends and I wanted to share them with you all. I'm hoping to do a tutorial on how I made them, but I have to wait until I get my tripod back up. My littlest daughter was my hand model so don't look to closely, she had just finished playing outside in the dirt. LOL

Let me know what you think and which one is your favorite.

Hey Guys, this is my stamp-in up haul. They are doing sale-bration right now and it goes until March 31, 2012. With every $50.00 you spend, you get a free gift. Plus if you get orders totally $150.00 you get hostess gifts. You can't beat that. I haven't done this much shopping in my entire life. It has been a blast.

This video is the things I got when I was at Michael's. My daughter, Danée, and I even made time to stop at 3 book stores and Wal-Mart before heading home. A very special day with my daughter.

Clear Clip Board

Hey Everyone, sorry I haven't posted in a few days. I was getting ready for my first craft show and I was very very sick, all at the same time. I wanted to show you the clip board I decoupaged for the show. I bought a clear clip board at wal-mart, but my friend was able to make them for us with the tools that he has. So this was our first attempt, let me know what you think.
I used the paper from Colorbok, the rosewood collection. I absolutely love that paper and am going to have to get myself another pack or two or more. LOL It has a lot of old fashioned designs in that pack.

Treat Bags for Valentines Day

Hey All. This is a very easy project that I made for all the kids in my children's classes. It's very simple, but I think it's cute with just the stamps from K. Andrew Designs. Click here and it will take you directly to the Getting Cricky Blog and the K. Andrew Designs amazing stamps. I used the "I heart you" and the "It's Valentines" sets for my project.
Take a peek. . .
I used Regal Rose card stock from Stamp-in Up. White card stock from Papertrey Ink. The stamps are the "I heart You set and the It's Valentines set" from K. Andrew Designs. There is a link up top that will take you directly to her website so that you can see all her stamps. I made faux stitching lines with my silver gel pen and used Jenni Bowlin Cough Syrup Ink for the sentiment.
Thanks for visiting me today and happy crafting.
